Haden Edwards received an empresario contract to settle 800 families near Nacogdoches. When he arrived with the families in the 1820s, he discovered people already lived there. They arrived long before Mexico gave him the grant. Edwards became very angry and tried to take over the town. The Mexican government did not support Edwards. Instead, they annulled his contract. Edwards stayed in the area and attempted to start a rebellion. On December 21, 1826, Edwards and his supporters claimed part of East Texas free and independent of Mexico. They named it the Republic of Fredonia. They even had support of the Cherokee in the area. However, most Anglo settlers in Texas did not support Haden’s rebellion. When a group of men from Austin’s colony joined with Mexican soldiers to march on Fredonia, Haden and his brother fled to the United States. The unrest caused Mexican leaders to rethink their immigration policies.

The Spell Backfires: After the woman casts the sleeping spell, it also affects the king and royal guards, leaving the queen alone to face the dark forest. Journey to the Witch's Lair: The queen bravely ventures into the dark woods, noticing that even animals are asleep, possibly due to the powerful spell. Finding the Witch's Cabin: The queen reaches the witch's lair, where she finds the troll army and the witch fast asleep. She locates Princess Viona, now a troll, by her pink nightgown. The Queen Rescues Viona: The queen carries the troll-version of her daughter back to the castle, unsure if the curse can be reversed, but filled with love and hope. The Power of a Mother’s Love: The queen hugs Viona tightly, and her love breaks the curse, transforming Viona back into a princess. The Kingdom’s Restoration: As the kingdom awakens, other children return from the woods, restored from trolls to their former selves, including the witch, who was once just a tired child in need of a nap. The kingdom is saved.

This is their first boat trip. Audrey, Daniel and Butch (jack russell) with dad. While on the boat dad pointed out to dolphins and majestic saugulls soaring overhead. Audrey spotted a family of seals while Daniel was trying to cast his fishing line. Their first stop was a secluded cove, sheltered from the wind. Dad dropped anchor, and the children squealed with delight as they jumped into the crystal-clear water for a swim. Butch, naturally, joined in, paddling furiously and chasing after floating seaweed. The water was cool and refreshing, and the underwater world teemed with colorful fish darting between vibrant coral. After their refreshing swim, it was time for lunch. Dad unpacked a picnic basket overflowing with sandwiches, fruit, and juice boxes. They ate their lunch while watching a playful crab scuttle across the rocks. Dad taught Audrey and Daniel how to navigate using a compass and chart, showing them how to identify landmarks and plan their course. Daniel even got to try steering the boat under Dad's watchful eye. Audrey, meanwhile, kept a lookout for marine life, excitedly pointing out every passing bird and fish. As the sun began to set, painting the sky in fiery hues of orange and pink, they headed back to shore. Tired but exhilarated, Audrey and Daniel snuggled up next to their dad, their faces flushed with the sun and filled with the joy of their first boating adventure. Butch, curled up at their feet, let out a contented sigh. They couldn't wait for their next trip on the water!

Once upon a time in a sunny little town, there was a small boy named Freddy who loved baseball more than anything! Even though he was tiny and not very strong, his heart was as big as the baseball field. He admired Barry Bomber, a famous player who won many games with his spectacular hits. Johnny tried out for the little league team but it didn't go well; every swing he took missed the ball and some of the other kids laughed at him. Instead of playing on the field, the kind coach asked Johnny to help manage the team. Freddy accepted with a smile because he still got to be near baseball. The season was exciting and went by quickly until one special game: The Championship! Sadly during this important match, Brock, the star player got hurt and couldn't continue. To everyone's surprise, Coach asked Johnny to take Brock's place. Nervous yet excited, Johnny put on his helmet and picked up the bat. When it seemed like all hope was lost with two runs down in their final inning, something magical happened. It was Johnny's turn to bat and BOOM! With a surprising swing of his little arms, he hit a grand slam home run! Everyone cheered wildly as they lifted Johnny onto their shoulders celebrating their unexpected win thanks to our tiny hero's great effort.

God describes David as “a man after My own heart” (1 Samuel 13:14, Acts 13:22). That does not mean that he was blameless. We only need to read 2 Samuel 11 to see that David has fallen very low: he took the wife of one of his generals, Bathsheba, because she was very beautiful. When Bathsheba turned out to be pregnant, David called her husband Uriah home from the battle field hoping he would sleep with her. That would “solve” the problem of Bathsheba’s pregnancy. But Uriah didn’t go home, not even when made drunk, so David sent him back to the battle field with a letter ordering his death. After Uriah’s death, David married Bathsheba. The description of this whole story ends with a clear comment: “the thing that David had done displeased the Lord” (2 Samuel 11:27). God didn’t let David get away with this. He confronted him with his sin, and David repented. Psalm 51 gives us an intimate glimpse of his emotions:
