A long time ago, in the vast African savannah, giraffes had short necks just like people. They roamed the land, munching on grass and low-hanging leaves. Among them was a particularly curious giraffe named Gigi. One sunny day, Gigi's friend, Chicken, decided to play a little trick. Chicken knew that Gigi loved palm leaf soup more than anything else in the world. So, Chicken made a big pot of the delicious soup and hid it high up in the tallest tree. When Gigi caught the scent of the soup, her mouth watered, and she couldn't resist. She looked up at the tree and saw the pot of soup perched on a high branch. Determined to taste it, Gigi began to stretch her neck. She stretched and stretched, but the soup was still out of reach. Gigi didn't give up. She kept stretching her neck higher and higher until, finally, she managed to get her head into the tree. But as she tried to take a sip, her head got stuck between the branches! Poor Gigi was trapped. For 100 years, Gigi remained stuck in the tree. The other animals tried to help, but it took a long time to figure out how to free her. Eventually, they worked together and managed to rescue Gigi. When she was finally free, Gigi's neck had become incredibly long from all that stretching. From that day on, all giraffes had long necks, just like Gigi. They could reach the highest leaves and enjoy the tastiest treats, all thanks to Gigi's love for palm leaf soup and her determination to reach it. And that's how the giraffe got its long neck.

Nik is from Haiti and moving to America to go to school. He is excited to meet his new family, 3 brothers and 2 sisters and a dog. He is very scared to leave Haiti. Nik was scared on the plane but loved seeing the big city lights. He liked his new home, it was bigger than hes ever seen. The washing machine and dryer was very scary to him because he had never seen one before. His dog Luna was sweet and friendly. All of the food is very different. He didn't like ice cream or cake but he loved spaghetti and pizza. Nik was both excited and sad at bedtime. He's never had a room or a bed to himself so it was a little scary. His new mom stayed with him until he was ready for sleep. As he lied there alone, looking at the stars in the sky, he wasn't scared anymore because he knew his family in Haiti was looking at the same stars.

Turkey and ham, piled high with some cheese, “Just look at this goodness! I’ll eat it with ease!” “Don’t forget mustard! It adds a big zing!” He squeezed on a dollop—oh, what joy it can bring! Then he topped it with pickles, so crunchy and round, “A yummy sandwich! It’s the best to be found!” He placed the last slice on top with a thud, And gave it a press with a big happy “thud!” “Now, let’s cut it in half, so easy to share, I’ll take one to my friends, with love and with care!” With a plate full of sandwiches, Sammy did grin, “Making a sandwich is such a win-win! It’s fun to create, with flavors to mix, A sandwich adventure—a tasty fix!” So if you feel hungry and don’t know what to do, Just follow Sam’s steps, and you’ll make one too!
